Now that the convention was over, we did a big of shopping and site seeing and we headed back to the hotel for our early morning departure (4 am) when the car stopped running. Literally 1/2 mile from the convention center (not even out of the driveway technically).

Naturally it was on a curve inthe road and we were constantly worried the buses would clip us. Yikes!! So we called security to park behind us and they were accomdating.

Then we ran up the hotel to see if they would send a shuttle, which they did right away. Then two of us stayed to wait on AAA to pick us and the van up.

It wasn’t the end of the world but it was a kink in our plans and a dent in the pocketbook. It would have felt a bit better hanging around Grapevine for two more days if the mechanic had fixed the problem. He replaced the catalytic converter and the problem was still there. 🙁 Disappointing. I am out the money and still have a van in the shop. I drove it home through the night praying it would keep running and I made it safe and sound.

I did get a cute cowgirl hat and dress but passed on the authentic TX cowgirl boots at $300.
